About Me
Greetings, I’m Donald Gonzales, but you can call me Donny! I’m a software developer with a rare combination of skills in technology and healthcare. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Western Governors University, along with an Associate’s Degree in Registered Nursing from Bakersfield College.
Professional Journey: I started my career in healthcare, working as a registered nurse for more than 10 years. In this role, I developed my patient care, clinical informatics, and management abilities. As a Clinical Nurse Manager at UT Health East Texas, I managed two clinical teams with an emphasis on productivity, budget management, and compliance, using software tools to improve operational efficiency. For example, I created a Python script to calculate productivity for my units and send a daily summary to the CFO.
Transition to Technology: In 2018, I decided to further my education by working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. As a kid, I have always had an interest in learning how to program. My education helped me learn skills to program in Java, Python, SQL/PL-SQL, and C++. My experience includes developing desktop applications, databases, and machine learning applications, following agile methodologies.
Certifications: I am certified in CompTIA Project+ and ITIL v4 Foundations, demonstrating my commitment to professional development and best practices in project management.
Awards: in August 2023, I was granted an Excellence Award from Western Governors University for an outstanding project in Introduction to Artificial Intelligence.
Connect with Me: I am always open to new opportunities and collaborations. Feel free to email me, or connect with me on github!
I am passionate about using my diverse background to bring a unique perspective to software development projects. Let’s innovate together!
